Firefighter Combat Challenge around the world

You know about the Firefighter Combat Challenge events happening across the U.S., but did you know that the FFCC has spread around the globe? Many countries embrace the health, safety and performance ideals embodied in the Challenge’s extreme tasks and obstacles. FFCC founder and President Dr. Paul Davis was at the Berlin 2011 Challenge last month and had a few pictures to share. You can see more of the photos on our Facebook Page.

Don’t forget that World Challenge XX is right around the corner. Now that it’s September, keep checking this page for updates, schedules, information about byes, Grand National Champions (GNC), location information, hotels and additional things to do in Myrtle Beach.

LION is a proud sponsor of the Firefighter Combat Challenge and a supporter of its mission to promote firefighter fitness. The LION’s Den is home to previous events’ record-holders and winners.

Dr. Paul Davis received his Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, College of Human Performance. A former firefighter/paramedic, he is a renowned expert witness on the subject of physical fitness and employment standards in the public safety sector. His ground-breaking research was the basis for the creation of the Firefighter Combat Challenge. Dr. Davis recounted the founding of the FFCC in a blog post last month.

Wolfgang Vorbeck, a German photographer, took hundreds of photos and several videos of the event that can be viewed on the Berlin Toughest Firefighter Alive site. Here’s a video of the first day’s opening ceremonies:
