LION Vallen Industries receives second award for operational excellence

LION Vallen Industries, a whole owned subsidiary of Dayton, Ohio-based LION, has made Manufacturing Executive’s prestigious 2012 ML100 winners list for Operational Excellence. “Manufacturing Leadership 100 Award judges have selected LION Vallen for top honors in the Operational Excellence category in two consecutive years for two different projects,” noted David Brousell, Vice President and Editorial Director at Manufacturing Enterprise Communications. “This demonstrates a strong and abiding commitment up and down the LION Vallen organization to continuous improvement and world class customer service.”

The great success of LVI’s program supporting the Naval Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC) received the attention of the year’s distinguished panel of judges. LVI was recognized for transforming its production processes and systems with an eye toward reducing costs and enhancing agility. The NECC program used Lean manufacturing to streamline the management, mass customization, issue, recovery and repair of NECC Combat Equipment while leveraging new systems that enhanced customer access and overall effectiveness and traceability.

“Just like last year, we are extremely proud and honored to receive this prestigious award. At LVI our core focus is on operational excellence in support of the mission-critical readiness of our military clients. The ML 100 award provides further confirmation and validation of our successful business practices by a very knowledgeable independent party”, stated Terry Smith, SVP of LVI. “It reinforces the trust our customers place in our support, and is a testament to the continuing devotion to operational excellence demonstrated by our employees. In this particular program we deploy nearly 40 personnel across four operations centers. They have maintained a very clear sense of mission, and a constant focus on NECC’s operational support requirements.

The global Manufacturing Leadership Awards Program (ML100), now in its eighth year, recognizes best-in-class manufacturers from the U.S. and abroad. LVI was recognized among 100 outstanding manufacturers that have been selected based on the scope of mastery, business integration, and use of technology demonstrated by each winner.
