NY Gov. Cuomo signs law expanding memorial to all firefighters killed in the line of duty

The new law expands previous legislation that only included firefighters killed “as a direct and proximate result of a line of duty injury” according to the governor’s office.
In 2006, Paul Brady was killed after falling off a fire engine that moved accidentally, but was not included on the memorial. A court case several weeks ago ruled that Brady’s name should be added to the memorial.
“The Fallen Firefighters Memorial honors the lives of our state’s bravest men and women who died while protecting others,” Cuomo said in a statement. “Every firefighter who has paid the ultimate sacrifice while protecting their community deserves to be recognized for their courage and heroic service.”
